We have been waiting for this for some time. The bookstore at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral is opening on Mother's Day, May 10. Hooray!!! It will be open after both morning services, and we welcome anyone -- especially you.
We hope to use this blog as one of many ways that we will stay in touch with you. We want you to tell us how we are doing. We want your recommendations for new books and subject matter, additional services, and more -- starting with your opinions on the hours that we should be open as asked for in the poll above.
Yes, this is a store. But it is also a ministry. A ministry that will foster community and education and thought and discussion. A ministry that is designed to be self-sustaining. And a ministry that, with your help in growing it, may be able to support other ministries for the congregation, the community, and the greater Church.
We will also use this space to post information on new titles that have arrived in the bookstore, and for occasional reviews of books. Watch for announcements and reviews in The Angelus and the diocesan West Missouri Spirit as well.
Thank you for your support and your ideas.

Are there any times other than Sunday morning that you would patronize the book shop if it were open?

Wow, what a morning. If you want to keep track of our progress, you can do so here. Terry, Bud, Sam and John got together early this morning and started the cleanup and reorganization of the shop. Lots was accomplished, and there is lots more to be done. And if you want to go down to the shop and peak in and see the progress being made -- you can't. Because tomorrow morning Bud will be covering up the big glass doors with paper. It's this simple. We don't want to spoil the surprise! Welcome to your new Cathedral Book Shop.
